  • The music of the language --

PowerPoint is also written in a very bizarre Java-like (or even SmallTalk-like) C++ that uses macros heavily. I've never seen anything like it anywhere else.

Yesterday at 1:00pm has passed away mr. Burt Wooley - the last person known to have used a word "hubris" in a live conversation. He was 94. Mr. Wooley is survived by a large dusty thesaurus.

Jabberwocky

As a huge fan of Wodehouse, I enjoyed the Spectator article, but found the following sentence bewildering:
"Sometimes it is a perfect, Jabberwocky coinage from the air, as Jeeves ‘enters with the vital oolong’."
The implication is that a complete invention like "brillig" or "slithy" is being used, but this is simply a fancy (and not especially brilliant by the high standards of PG) way to say "enters with the necessary cup of tea."

Re: Jabberwocky

Yes, I found this sentence puzzling as well.
Could it be that the reviewer is simply unfamiliar with the word 'oolong'?

Unlikely, but I see no other explanation that's account for his sentiment.
